This old time log cabin has an open design with a great room which shares a large kitchen and provides room to spread out for dining, games or relaxing. A loft area above and a sun-room that overlooks Chalk Creek. Stoke up the wood stove and have a cup of cocoa in the colder months. Sit outside in summer and enjoy the sounds of the creek and gaze at the stars above.
This 1.5 story mountain retreat is situated in the Heart of the Colorado Rockies between Mt. Princeton and Mt. Antero and just 2.5 miles from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. The property has some of the best views of the famous Chalk Cliffs and is nestled in aspen and pine forests with areas to sit outside or walk to the "wildlife viewing meadow" and watch the wildlife (mountain goats, bighorn sheep, deer, fox, and an occasional elk or moose). Situated in Chalk Creek Canyon between Salida and Buena Vista the location provides a great home base. Ski Monarch, take a sled ride on monarchdogsledrides.com, shoe shoe, sled with the kids. In the summer there is world class rafting near by, fishing in one of the many nearby lakes, 4 wheeling, St. Elmo ghost town, hiking on of the many 14er's in the area. So many things to do, then come back relax and enjoy. Mt. Princeton and Cottonwood Hot Springs are just around the bend soak, relax, and let the kids play on the water slide.
Located about 15-20 miles from Salida or Buena Vista, Colorado, providing a perfect home base for all of your Colorado adventures! You are located in San Isabel National Forest which contains 19 of the state's 54 fourteeners.
In the warmer months go white water rafting, zip lining, fly fishing, kayaking, bicycling, horseback riding, and hiking, or 4-wheeling on the many scenic trails. The winter brings fantastic skiing or snowboarding at Monarch Ski Resort - just 40 minutes away. Take a sled ride at monarchdogsledrides.com, snowshoe or soak in Mt. You can fish in the Chalk Creek just at the rear of the property or hike to the Colorado Trail or the Agnes Valles Falls. St. Elmo, a historic Ghost Town, is just a few miles west of the property, the kids will love feeding the chipmunks or watching the hummingbirds feed from the well-stocked feeders!
